Publications on Key Populations

This is the sixth round of the IBBS study conducted among PWIDs in Eastern Terai Highway Districts. This survey is a part of the National HIV Surveillance Plan (2012) and National HIV and AIDS Strategy (2011-2016).

This is the fifth round of the IBBS survey conducted among 500 Female Sex Workers (FSWs); 300 establishment-based and 200 street-based in 2015. The survey covered the entire Kathmandu Valley: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur districts.

Greater efforts must be made to include key populations in this crucial process for the HIV prevention response to be truly impactful.

The regional report of this multi-country study contains findings and recommendations to address violence experienced by sex workers in Asia.

A National Consultation on legal protection for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS was organized by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on 21st December 2015. The objectives of the consultation was to deliberate on mechanisms for enhancing access to legal support by PLHIV and key populations and strengthen the mechanism of legal aid being provided by National Legal Service Authority , State Legal Service Authority & District Legal Service Authority and Taluk Level Service Authority.

This was the fifth round of the Integrated Biological and Behavioral Surveillance survey conducted among Female Sex Workers (FSWs) of Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts).

This revision is based on the increased in the number of prisoners, prisoners’ health needs, and lessons learnt from the implementation of the first version of the Prison Health Services (PHS) Strategy.

The sixth round of the IBBS survey was conducted among PWIDs within the Kathmandu Valley with coverage of 340 sample size, funded by TI Pooled Fund, under the leadership of NCASC and in close collaboration with key stakeholders.

Compilation of the data on the 2015 Integrated HIV Behavioral and Serologic Surveillance among males/transgenders who have sex with males (M/TSM), freelance female sex workers (FFSW), male entertainment establishment workers (MEW), transgender women (TGW), injecting drug users (IDU) male and female in different locations.

The HIV epidemic amongst men who have sex with men (MSM) in Bangkok is substantial. The population size of MSM in Bangkok is 120,000-250,000, with approximately one-third (33.5 percent) considered high-risk, characterized by their young age, multiple partnerships, frequent unprotected anal intercourse, and sexual activities around MSM hotspots.
