Kauntim mi tu, an integrated bio-behavioural survey (IBBS) of women and girls who sell and exchange sex (from here on referred to as FSW), and men who have sex with men and transgender women (from here on referred to as MSM/TG), was conducted to support the scale-up of essential HIV prevention and treatment services for these populations.

Transgender people are 49 times more likely to acquire HIV than all adults of reproductive age. They face, from a young age, stigma, discrimination and social rejection in their homes and communities for expressing their gender identity. Such discrimination, violence and criminalization prevent transgender people from getting the HIV services they need stay healthy.

As other countries who are recipients of the Global Fund grants, Indonesia implemented the New Funding Model beginning form the country consultation processes in developing national health strategies and strengthening health and community systems. The country has added, as part of their country dialogue, the conduct of National Gender and HIV Assessment, as well as, HIV and the law/human rights legal review.
